Frequently Asked Questions
Who should join the Connect Cville Challenge?
Anyone and everyone! All people in the greater Charlottesville area are welcomed and encouraged to participate.
What is the size of each meal group and how is it organized?
Gatherings will be in small groups (5-7 people), and an organizer will help to facilitate. One way this could work is for the organizer to bring two people they know (who have not met prior), and each of these people brings someone who has not met the rest of the group. Alternatively, the organizer can set up the time and location for the meal and anyone can join.
Where will meals take place and what time of day?
Meals can take place wherever most convenient for the group — a park, cafe, public space, etc. The suggested length of time for the gathering is an hour, though groups can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on everyone’s schedule. Meals can be any time of day — whatever works best for the organizer and group members.
What will participants eat?
Each meal is Bring-Your-Own style. Food can be shared with the group, or individuals can bring their own.
Will transportation be provided?
Participants are responsible for arranging transportation to the meal.
What will participants talk about?
There is not set structure to conversation. This is deliberate, as we want meals to feel as easy as possible for people to organize and join. Perhaps people will talk about their family, jobs, schools, stories of growing up, a favorite book or poem, or a love for music. Our only request is that all discussion remain civil and respectful of all participants!
How can I share this event with my friends?
Invite them to a meal you’re hosting, or share the Facebook event!
